Many people get confused about what an MLM program is and many people will not know if it is related to Pyramid Schemes.

Pyramid Schemes are illegal. They are not a business but a sort of chain letter where you are asked to pass on money and then pass on the letter asking others to do the same.

MLM programs are completely legal and are businesses that compensate you with money in exchange for a product or service.

There are many MLM programs available all of which offer different products or different services. They will vary in their membership fees and there are even some that are free to join.

MLM programs are not for everyone as most of them do involve recruiting other members. Some people are not comfortable with recruiting other members, so if you are one of those people, then MLM programs may not be for you.

The reason MLM programs require you to recruit new members is that these programs exists because of its members. Just as with any business, these programs sell products or services to make money and the only way they will stay in business is if they have customers to sell their products or services too.

So as a reward to their members, they will pay their members a commission for referring new members. Although many MLM programs are worth the membership fee just for the product or service you will be receiving, quite often you can make a good income just by referring new members to the program.

Each MLM program will work differently in their commission structure and many of them will pay commissions on many levels. Many of them will also pay a continuing monthly commission for as long as your referrals remain with the program.

By recruiting some good, quality members, you can set yourself up with a good recurring income through MLM programs.

It is not always easy to recruit members to MLM programs, especially if there is membership fees involved. Many people looking to earn money online are looking for ‘money for nothing’. In other words, they want to make money but don’t want to risk any investment money.

There are free MLM programs available; however, it is true what they say ‘you only get what you pay for’. Any good quality program that has a good income potential will more than likely have some membership fee. They are not always that high though and you can join a good quality MLM program for as little as $10 per month.

Once you have recruited new members, you also need to keep them there. A downline is not much good if your members quit after the first month or two. To help to have a good quality downline, you need to be a good leader.

It is important to communicate with your downline members and help them whenever you can. Always answer your members if they contact you with questions.

If you think MLM could be for you, always make sure you do some research into the program before you join. Make sure the program you are joining is a good, credible program that has a good, solid history.
